Another week has gone by... I can't believe in 5 days Elder Monk will be in the field for FOUR MONTHS!! He is already 1/6 of the way through his mission. Time is flying.
Elder Monk's letters lately have been great!! He sounds wonderful and so happy. He loves his area and the people he is teaching. He loves his companion and other missionary friends. He loves the work he is teaching and knows of its truthfulness. He just sounds so happy!!
His letter last week was very entertaining. He has had some interesting investigator/ contacting experiences, but he is growing and learning from each of them. With many of the experiences he writes about he adds what he thinks he could have done better and what he will do next time in certain situations. He is growing immensely and it is wonderful to watch.
He wrote and amazing scripture for me in his email today:
Moroni 9:25
My son, be faithful in Christ; and may not the things which I have written grieve thee, to weigh thee down unto death; but may Christ lift thee up, and may his sufferings and death, and the showing his body unto our fathers, and his mercy and long-suffering, and the hope of his glory and of eternal life, rest in your mind forever.
"I love this scripture. With all the events of the world today that people have to worry and fear, and increase the stress in their mind. We have much to rejoice about. Recoice in Christ and the wonderful gifts that He has given us. Recoice is His goodness and mercy and love. Let this hope take the place of all the worries of the world in your mind. Put your faith in Him, and He will direct you through all the storms of life."
What incredible thought and guidance?! I love to get his letter each week and see his growth. He is great faith in Heavenly Father and for His plans. He is an obedient missionary and is and will continue to be blessed for his endeavors.
We are all so proud of him!!!

Pictures from California
45 days in California!! Wow - time really is flying by...
So FINALLY Elder Monk sent home his camera card for all to see what he has been up to. He is doing great :) He loves his area and is enjoying helping with the progression in the Burbank area.

What a beautiful view?! Sunny California everyday!!

Elder Monk's trainer and companion Elder Uceda. He is a wonderful trainer and has taught Elder MOnk a lot thus far.

The LA Temple... they are able to attend the temple 3 times year. What a great opportunity?!

Elder Braden and Elder Monk hanging out. They were both in the same MTC district and are now both serving in Burbank. On p-days Elder Monk, Elder Uceda, Elder Braden, and Elder Jones (Elder Braden's comp) usually meet up somewhere in the area and play some basketball. He loves getting away with this great group of missionaries and playing an intense, non-competitive game of basketball :)

The living... no lamp shade on the light, too funny!! Nice touch to the apartment.
As you can see there were no pictures of the kitchen because they do not spend much time there. Elder Monk is very, very blessed to be in an area where they have meal appointments for dinner and most lunches everyday!! He is getting fed A LOT!! Yay for homemade meals!

MTC Friends
Elder Monk had wonderful experiences, made many new friends, and learned a lot during his time at the MTC. Below are pictures and some highlights!!

His district, Branch President and wife on their last Sunday at the MTC. He loved his Branch President and took much from his infinite wisdom. What a great group...?!
Oh no... Elder Sheets (his first companion) and him returned to a broken light! What are they going to do?!
